Prerequisites: A minimum of one year performing fluorescein angiography (or, if less than one year, students should have done 200+ angiograms).

Target Group:: Ophthalmic personal performing angiograms of the retina and choroid and especially those studying for the OPS CRA examination.

Course level: Intermediate to Advanced - previous experience required.

Instructional Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Describe the optics of retinal fundus camera.
  2. Recognize and correct errors in their retinal fundus photography.
  3. Take better retinal photographs.
  4. Apply basic photography principles to ophthalmic retinal photography.
  5. Operate a computer imaging system to make digital retinal images.
  6. Identify the various anatomic structures of the posterior segment of the human eye.
  7. Recognize various posterior abnormalities and diseases affecting these structures.
  8. Explain the properties of fluorescein dye and potential complications.
  9. Improve their fluorescein angiography technique.
  10. Develop and print a fluorescein based angiograms.
  11. Acquire, save, manipulate and output a digital angiogram.
  12. Descriptively interpret the abnormalities recorded in fluorescein angiograms.
